In designing a home for one of Veniceβs typically long and narrow lots, Ehrlich recalled lessons heβd learned from the local architecture of Nigeria and the courtyard layout of houses in the medinas in Morocco. He calls his approach βmulticultural modernism.β The result is a house that takes advantage of the climate and that uses natural systems and technology to boost the homeβs efficiency.

It’s like living in a piece of art
I’ve heard the phrase “lifestyle porn” before. Didn’t know what it meant until now. Wow! What a beautiful home and the couple just seem so amazing and thoughtful. I am trying to get ideas for what I want my home to look like. This is an amazing video!
Beautiful design. I love how eclectic it is, yet it all works together.
If we ever get rich enough to afford something like this, I want Ehrlich to design a multicultural modernist home for our family. I want those comfy chairs his wife found too. The only thing I’d change is to round all those sharp corners and edges so small children don’t get hurt. This is my favorite houzz house so far.
I’m not fond of dining benches, but I loved most everything else.
When he said “no paint” I started really paying attention
*βEhrlichβ means βhonestβ in German …. one can feel the authenticity of the man! It doesnβt get any better than this!!!* _Brilliant!!_
Wow.. just wow… I would love to design my own house even though I’m not an architect!
Really thinking about making a tiny house to keep myself dept free to survive my mid 20’s and 30’s ;p
absolutely, all you need to do is to feel the space and adapt it.
Roy Wardenaar that’s really a good idea me too I’m in my teens but I could make it for my 20s sure is a great experience to travel in my country (:
Roy Wardenaar It’d be worth the investment! Also, you dont have to be an architect to design a house π
This is first time am providing a comment publicly. This place is really soo lovely. Awesome. π
So impressed, I watched it four times. Love that it has no paint. I wish I could have seen the powder room, and master bedroom.
I have always been wanting to become an architect, and actually lost hope of becoming one ever since I started IB last August 2016. This video really inspired me, and pushed me more to become an architect all over again. Thank you so much.
Same???
Fania Muthia girl, I get you ????? ib is killing me too , but isn’t this house just so fab
I didn’t go for architecture because of my high school mentor who said there is no good living in architecture because the Chicago market is over saturated. As much as like what I do, this is the biggest regret of my life. If you have passion and determination for what you do, you’ll enjoy it and you’ll find a way to make it work.
This was so artfully filmed — and without the style getting in the way. And I loved the details about the cement blocks and the choice of materials and finishes.
I want to be an architect by just watching this! They transform art into real life!
This house might be my favorite of all time. Only thing missing is it needs to be transported to a beach somewhere, or a cliff overlooking an ocean…but goodness gracious PERFECT combination of in/out!
I love this house. Using the trees as part of the home instead of cutting them down.
Amazing. How do you deal with bugs, mice, bees etc in that type of home?
I am absolutely in love with everything about this house ???
I think houzz should show more of the house with their voice over. so we get to see more of the house. my fav thing about the house is the octogenarian tree and least favourite was the glass bridge, not really comfortable when u r wearing skirt and people are below. great that he didnt use paint
This man is a genius really. How gorgeous is his design and he gets to live in it!
Make sure you wear something properly when you walk that bridge π
